Michael (Mike) P. McGrath serves as President for MG McGrath, Inc. Architectural Surfaces division, and Architectural Glass & Glazing division next door, two specialty contracting firms located in Maplewood, Minnesota. A transformational leader, Mike’s deft understanding of architectural sheet metal applications and experience in high-volume operations have positioned both companies as award-winding industry leaders. Seamlessly interfacing with executives, peers and clients, he expertly evaluates and executes large-scale company objectives transpiring in the lower 48 states. Accrediting his father, who founded MG McGrath, Inc. in 1985, as his mentor, Mike McGrath has worked for the family-owned business since a young age. Never forgetting the passion and work ethic instilled by his grandfather, a sheet metal journeyman, Mike began his career sweeping warehouse floors, eventually becoming an apprentice, then a journeyman, later a foreman, then a project manager before assuming his previous post, vice president of operations. While a hands-on learner, to further enhance his technical and trade skills, Michael earned his associate’s degree from the Minnesota School of Business in 2003. This undertaking didn’t take him away from the day-to-day MG McGrath business operations as he opted for night classes, and later became a member of Sheet Metal Local 10. Michael McGrath is also a standing member of the Construction Specifications Institute (CSI), and in partnership with American Institute of Architects, he teaches industry specific continuing education seminars. With projects in motion from New York to Los Angeles, and in-between, Michael travels nationally a few days a week working closely with architects, contractors and clients armed with the company motto “Bringing ideas to life.” Recent accomplishments include the award-winning Florida Polytechnic University Innovation, Science and Technology Building (FL), the US Bank Stadium (Largest construction project in MN history), Mayo Clinic Square (MN), Pinnacle Bank Arena (NE), Mall of America Radisson Blu Hotel (MN), Mall of America Expansion Phase 1C (MN), Central Corridor and Light Rail Transit (MN), Facebook West Campus (CA), CHS Field (MN), Anytime Fitness Headquarters (MN), 3M Headquarter Building 280 (MN), Speed Art Museum (KY), and the University of California, Berkeley Art Museum and Pacific Film Archive (CA).
