Biography
Timo Schmidt is Professor for Façade Technology and Design at Augsburg University of Applied Sciences and member of the scientific advisory board at the Werner Sobek Group in Stuttgart. As façade consultant at Werner Sobek he was responsible for the façades of buildings like e.g. Dubai Opera house or Casa Enzo Ferrari in Modena. In Augsburg, he teaches Integrative Design and Façade Technology for both Architects and energy efficiency students. He is in the scientific advisory board of the Augsburg Façade Congress.
He obtained his doctorate at the medical department of Tübingen University, taught at the Institute of Lightweight Structures and Conceptual Design (ILEK) of Stuttgart University, and was Adjunct Associate Professor at the Illinois Institute of Technology (IIT) in Chicago.
His work at the medical school has strongly influenced his approach of façade engineering and design.
