Biography

Ruth is the Building Performance Analysis group Practice Lead at Morrison Hershfield with a focus on component and whole building thermal and energy modelling. She has over eight years of experience including the BETB Guide, energy policy work in the cities of Vancouver, Toronto, Calgary, and Edmonton, and in Province of British Columbia, and energy modelling for a variety of new development and existing projects, often combining the results of thermal modelling and whole building energy modelling. Ruth has been instrumental in developing MH’s internal parametric analysis tool using her aptitude for software to develop quick workflows that make large-scale, parametric energy modelling cost effective. Ruth also has extensive experience using the MH Building Energy Performance Mapping tool on projects, helping clients visualize results from parametric building energy simulations with the ultimate objective of determining the most cost-effective path to attaining project energy use goals. Recent projects include energy modelling for several P3 projects with energy guarantees, carbon neutral studies for existing buildings, and the BC Energy Step Code Metrics Research Report.
