Chuck Knickerbocker came out of UW-Milwaukee’s School of Architecture and went straight into the glazing industry as a draftsman for a single source glazing fabricator / subcontractor. Since then, he’s worked for several manufacturers, a consultant, ending his career as a Curtain Wall Manager at Technical Glass Products, where he helped bring their exterior products to market. He’s assisted subcontractors, architects, and owners in developing details and specifications from schematic through design development to completing contract documents, as well as oversee the installation of these systems in mockups and on the projects themselves. These experiences allowed him to experience all phases of window and curtain wall installations for hospitals, schools, office buildings and public transportation centers in the US and the Middle East. He’s served as Technical Committee Chair for GANA and NGA technical efforts, writing chapters in their estimating, sealant, and project manager’s manuals, as well as papers on BIM and Thermal Bridging. His “Field Notes” blog ran bi-weekly from 2009-2022 on the US Glass and Metal magazine’s daily newsletter.
