FTI Recognizes College of Fellows Inductees
The Facade Tectonics Institute (FTI) will hold its College of Fellows ceremony to induct twenty-four individuals at the conclusion of the World Congress in Los Angeles this coming October 12-13th.
The 2022 nominees include architects Charles Blomberg, and Mike Flynn, engineers and designers Israel Berger, Graham Dodd, Tim Eliassen, Fritz Gartner, Kevin Hydes, Joe Khoury, Tim MacFarlane, Michael Mulhern, David Niemoeller, James O’Callaghan, Werner Sobek, and John Walker; and educators Ajla Aksamija, Karen Kensek, Ted Kesik, Vivian Loftness, Doug Noble, and Uta Pottgiesser.
Three posthumous awards will be made to the families of structural engineers Peter Rice and Jőrg Schlaich, and façade designer Philip G. Bonzon. These three men are recognized for their outstanding contributions to architecture and the façade industry over the course of their lives.
The College of Fellows seeks to stimulate a sharing of interests among Fellows, promote the purposes of the Institute, advance the profession of Façade design, mentor young Façade creators, and be of ever-increasing service to the Institute. The College of Fellows, founded in 2016, is composed of members of the Institute who are elected to Fellowship by a jury of their peers. Fellowship is one of the highest honors the FTI can bestow upon a member. Elevation to Fellowship not only recognizes the achievements in Façade design as an individual but also elevates before the public and the profession those Façade creators who have made significant contributions to architecture and to the Institute.
In 2022, the College of Fellows introduced a mentoring program that pairs aspiring façade designers with Fellows. The program enables students and young professionals the opportunity to connect with seasoned professionals in the fields of façade design and engineering.
