Symbiosis University Hospital and Research Centre (SUHRC) in Pune, India, is a multi-speciality hospital and skill centre built on 40 acres of land. The design emphasizes sustainability and passive design principles. The use of naturally-compressed, sundried earthen bricks (CSEB) for the double-skinned façade promotes energy efficiency and reduces the need for artificial cooling. Courtyards and wide corridors provide natural ventilation and daylight, reducing power consumption. The central courtyard serves as a healing space and minimizes cross-infections.
