The Google Bay View project spans 42 acres, totaling 1.1 million square feet, with 20 acres of open space, two office buildings, a 1,000-person event center, and 240 short-term employee accommodation units. The main office buildings consist of an encompassing canopy roof which shields the open-plan, two-level workspace below.
The canopy is segmented into numerous unique, doubly curved bays clad with photovoltaic shingles resembling dragonscale, and features plentiful clerestory window openings which provide a wealth of natural daylight throughout the buildings. The workspace structures are designed to be flexible for future adaptability and periodically pop out of the highly-glazed perimeter façade, providing exterior terraces and blurringthe line between interior and exterior.
